This post is a continuation of my series where I document that work that I did to create, produce and publish Birmingham Shines, a podcast I launched April 30, 2015.

Spent 90 minutes writing last week’s blog post about what I did the previous week to create, produce and publish Birmingham Shines. Did not include graphics, so the 90-minutes was totally about writing.
I also had two interludes where I researched some tools I’m looking at for another aspect of the Shinecast project.
Spent about 1 hour and 45 minutes reviewing the audio files for episode 7, including identifying the teaser quotes, created the script, uploaded the files to Dropbox, created job on Elance and messaged editor whose been editing the previous episodes about the job.

Spent about 30 minutes writing a revised version of the Shinecast mission statement I’d written on Sunday. The Sunday version was clinical, my journal notes, while the Monday version was more of a story.
Recorded my intro and outtro segments for episode 7 and added those files to Dropbox. Awarded the editing job to the regular editor, after spending some time inviting others to submit proposals. I hadn’t heard from Alex when I first checked and needed to get the job awarded before I left town. Then I discovered he’d submitted a proposal, so I awarded the job to him.
Added the Shinecast mission statement to Patreon page (which isn’t yet live). I also edited a profile photo for Patreon and uploaded that. I’d hoped to get that page live on Monday, but did not because I ran out of time.
The rest of Monday, all of Tuesday were spent at the farm, where I was doing honeybee related activities.
At some point on Monday or Tuesday I was able to download episode 7 to review it for publication. I believe I started reviewing it Monday night and the intro portion sounded fine.

Created cover art for the episode for website and uploaded that to website media gallery.

Published the episode “project” post on Birmingham Shines website.
Spent about 90 minutes Thursday morning using Canva to create Twitter and Facebook graphics for episode 7.
Shared the episode on Twitter and Facebook using the Canva-created images. Added those images to the website post for episode 7 so they would be available if others share the post.
Over the course of the day, I spent about an hour on Shinecast/business related emails.
Thursday afternoon I created new Facebook and Twitter graphics using photos that show guest sent to me Thursday morning. I wanted to be accommodating and use their preferred photos. I also created an Instagram graphic for episode 7.

While having coffee before getting dressed for Y’all Connect, I spent about 50 minutes in Canva creating new episode images for episodes 6 and 7 to use in Soundcloud. I had failed to publish episode 6 in SoundCloud so I uploaded that episode and updated the image. Then I uploaded episode 7 to SoundCloud and updated the image.
I also created a new Instagram graphic for episode 1 with Wade Kwon that I planned to share later Friday morning in conjunction with Y’all Connect event.
From 8:15 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. I was busy with Y’all Connect (that includes driving to and from the Civic Center). During that time I tweeted a couple of times about Birmingham Shines, shared the Instagram image of Wade and episode 1 with Y’all Connect hashtag just as the opening keynote was getting underway. In the last session, I shared Instagram image for episode 7.
Honored that Wade Kwon, founder of #yallconnect was the first guest on #BirminghamShines podcast when it launched May 1. Very happy to be at #yallconnect today. When you’re driving home tonight or later this weekend I hope you’ll listen to this episode with Wade. Link in bio but the podcast is available on iTunes, @SoundCloud, @Stitcher radio and for streaming or download at BirminghamShines dot com. #socialmedia #socialbusiness
Want a unique dinner option? Listen to @deepsouthfoodie on episode 7 of #Birmingham Shines podcast via iTunes or link in bio. Today was another day spent focused on honeybees. I had to drive up to the farm to introduce a new queen to what I thought was a queenless beehive. Turns out the hive had a queen after all (but concerned because no eggs) so I took the plunge and created a nuc by pulling frames of brood and nurse bees from another hive and placing the queen in the middle. Hoping it all works out. I will go back and check on her Tuesday morning. That’s the earliest I can get back. Best to leave the bees to it, anyway.
Got back home from the farm at 8:45 p.m., so no work on Birmingham Shines on Saturday.
